Gulfsands Supports Phoenix Space and Blumont Launching an Innovative STEM Course in collaboration with UNHCR to Empower Refugee Children at Zaatari Refugee Camp, Jordan

Gulfsands, in collaboration with Phoenix Space and Blumont, has launched the STEM Spark program at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan. The program aims to provide refugee children aged 10-14 with access to valuable Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, empowering them for a better future.

The refugee crisis has disrupted educational opportunities for millions of children, hindering their development of crucial skills essential in today’s technology-driven world.

Phoenix Space has developed the unique introduction to STEM course specifically tailored to address the challenges that refugee children face.

The STEM Spark program offers a holistic curriculum that introduces fundamental STEM concepts in an engaging and culturally sensitive manner. Key scientific and mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry, Newtonian mechanics, programming, and space science are covered. The curriculum integrates hand-on learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. Experienced mentors are also available to guide and support the children throughout their learning journey, creating a nurturing and collaborative learning environment.

Caroline Haddad, the Country Director of Blumont Jordan, expressed gratitude to Phoenix Space and Gulfsands for empowering Syrian refugees. She also acknowledged the continuous support of UNHCR. According to her, STEM education is a critical factor in enabling young people in the camp to enter the job market and enhance their employability. Haddad remarked that Blumont aims to equip the refugees with versatile skills acquired through a diverse range of educational activities, including academic and life skills development, sports, arts, and innovation education, and applying these to address various societal concerns presented by the community.
