Senior delegation from Gulfsands attended the Libya Bid Round Roadshow in London earlier this week and to meet the leadership of the National Oil Corporation (“NOC”), including Chairman Engineer Masoud Suleman, and the Libyan Minister of Oil, Dr. Khalifa Abdelsadek in partnership with Murzuq Oil Services Limited.

A big well done to the Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) – especially to Peter Millett for helping to organise and host such a well-executed and well-attended event.

Held on Monday, 7 April 2025 at the Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel, the Roadshow marked the third global event in a series promoting Libya’s first oil and gas exploration bid round since 2007. With 22 exploration blocks available across key onshore and offshore basins, this is a unique opportunity for global energy companies to engage in the rehabilitation and

expansion of the country’s oil and gas industry, which has a long and rich history and boasts the highest oil reserves in Africa.

With current production at 1.4 million bpd and a national target of 2 million bpd within three years, Libya is clearly positioning itself as a vital energy hub. The event offered invaluable insights into the bid process, exploration zones, and the long-term vision for Libya’s energy future. The transparent, thorough, and rigorous process that the Bid Round will follow reflects a strong commitment by the NOC and Oil Ministry to opening up Libya’s energy sector to international partnerships.
