International Energy Week 2025 & Middle East Energy Summit

It has been a great few days of events, meetings, and discussions at International Energy Week in London

Congratulations to the Energy Institute on hosting such an impressive forum. It’s certainly a marathon, not a sprint! Thanks to Sean Killian Evers and the Gulf Intelligence team for an excellent leadership dinner as part of the Middle East Energy Summit.  

  Gulfsands Managing Director John Bell had the privilege speaking alongside Dr. Waddah Ghanem Al Hashmi, and Dr. Yousef M. Alshammari FEI CSci on how the MENA region is shaping the future of energy during the panel session, expertly moderated by Kate Dourian FEI. John took the opportunity to make what he feel are vital arguments about the global energy transition, and how we must strike a better balance between energy security, energy affordability, and the transition to net zero, something many countries in the Middle East are doing really well. 

  He also noted how the energy industry can help countries get back on their feet after challenging times, and in this regard he think of Syria, where – in the context of sanctions being eased and energy companies including GULFSANDS hopefully returning to operations soon – the energy sector can transform the country’s urgent recovery and revitalisation.
