An international roundtable titled “The Future of Energy in Syria” focused on investment opportunities and accelerated recovery in the energy sector was convened on the sidelines of the ADIPEC 2025 Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi. The session brought together representatives from more than twenty prominent global and regional companies across the oil, gas, power, and renewable energy sectors, including Shell, Total, and Siemens. Gulfsands’s Managing Director, John Bell, and its Gulfsands Middle East Vice Chairman, Mark Cutis, were also in attendance.
Discussions centered on Syria’s landscape of investment prospects in the energy sector, alongside an assessment of the country’s technical requirements and infrastructure needs essential for rehabilitation and development projects. Participants also reviewed government initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration with the private sector and establishing a supportive, sustainable investment environment. Speaking during the meeting, Minister of Energy, Eng. Mohamed Al-Bashir, underscored the importance of attracting high-quality investments and advanced technologies. He emphasized the need to activate international partnerships to enhance the resilience of the energy system, expedite recovery phases, ensure service continuity, and drive sustainable economic development. Gulfsands is ready to play its role in the recovery of Syria as soon as circumstances allow.
